During the late 1980's,Brendon MacNeil( a former poultry inspector)  began raising Free Range chickens for his family's use. Soon friends and family, impressed with the flavor and the texture of the poultry and beef, began purchasing chickens, turkeys and beef. The rest as "they say" is history; the hobby expanded and grew over the years culminating in 2004 with the opening of an on sight provincially inspected poultry abattoir. The abattoir processes not only poultry from MacNeils Family Farm but also  poultry from farms across Nova Scotia where free range chickens and turkeys are raised.
